Introduction
NCGE is responsible for raising the profile of entrepreneurship amongst UK students and graduates. There are four strands to their operations: Research, Education, Careers and Student Entrepreneurship. The Council is not only focused on graduates starting businesses, but understanding, developing and promoting a culture of entrepreneurship within Higher Education and NCGE aims to become the national focal point for graduate entrepreneurship across the UK.
Business Requirements
NCGE required an end-to-end business solution based upon a custom-written Content Management System (CMS) supporting their main web site and three Communities: Research, Education and Careers. They needed to be able to add content in real-time to each strand of their business so that all information is current and up-to-date. Our remit was to provide a modern, easy-to-use yet powerful content management system customised to their business requirements..

Plaroma's Business Solution
- Plaroma provided NCGE with a complete business solution, including application development, hosting and systems maintenance.
- A product engine was developed which provides the framework for each of the Community areas of the web site.
- A custom Content Management System (CMS) with Built-in graphical HTML editor was developed to allow client creation of new pages and other areas of the web site.
- Plaroma made extensive use of AJAX so that the system provides a more intuitive, desktop-friendly application
- A tabbed-interface was used with dynamic tab and image creation via the ORCA back-end Administration system
- A complete back-end Administration system was built (ORCA) which allows NCGE total system configuration and control of all aspects of their web sites and communities.
